Research Specialty

Agricultural Law which involves a highly integrated and complex field of law held together by broad themes including the role of land, the role of the government, the unique role of the so-called family farm, the importance of the international community, credit issues and the new biotechnology issues raised by the use of GMO crops and antibiotics use in livestock and poultry producing and disease issues such as mad cow disease.

Commercial Law which involves the application of the Uniform Commercial Code to credit issues that include debtor’s obligations when they buy a good on credit and cannot pay for it or sell it without authority to another or file for bankruptcy.

Awards

  • Howard M. and Sue Immel Teahing Award for 2006
  • Distinguished Service Award from the American Agricultural Law Association
  • Law school's Dean Frederick J. Moreau Award in 1999 and 2001 selected by students. The citation provided in part: "He is an exception teacher, a caring mentor . . . who is always willing to answer questions . . . or help you find your way."
